Good news for all strength athletes right from the start:
Not all veins that protrude beneath the skin and are clearly visible are actually varicose veins.
A varicose vein is always a pathologically dilated vein with venous valves that no longer close properly, causing blood to back up in the vein and leading to its dilation. These veins run through the subcutaneous fatty tissue, known as subcutaneous tissue, and are then increasingly visible under the skin. The decisive factor is therefore always the defective valve closure in the vein combined with a pathological reflux of blood in the leg due to gravity towards the foot.
