Dr. Ulrich Kusenack
I have been working in the field of vascular medicine for 25 years now—most recently as the long-standing chief physician at a university hospital specializing in vascular surgery in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Born in Passau (Lower Bavaria) in 1968, I completed my training as a surgeon after studying human medicine at Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich. I graduated in 2001 with a specialist qualification in surgery.
I then specialized in the relatively new but rapidly developing field of vascular surgery. After qualifying as a specialist in vascular surgery in 2006, I initially worked as a senior physician and deputy chief physician in vascular surgery at Helios University Hospital in Wuppertal. From December 2010 to the end of 2018, I headed this clinic and the Bergisches Gefäßzentrum (Bergisch Vascular Center) in the position of chief physician.
During this time, I studied phlebology intensively—the study of veins, their diseases, and treatment—and successfully passed the phlebologist exam administered by the North Rhine Medical Association.
As an expert on behalf of the North Rhine Medical Association, I also assess controversial treatment courses and offer you my support in such matters.
If you require a second medical opinion prior to a planned procedure, I would be happy to provide you with an objective assessment.

Why a private practice?
Working in a private medical practice offers many advantages for you as a patient:
- Detailed discussion of your symptoms without time pressure
- Short waiting times for appointments
- Individual treatment using all diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
- State-of-the-art medicine based on the latest scientific findings
- No budget constraints with restrictions on therapy
- Less bureaucracy and therefore more time for your treatment
As a private physician, I bill all my services transparently and comprehensibly in accordance with the German Scale of Fees for Physicians (GOÄ).
Practice location and equipment
In the pleasant atmosphere of my practice, I can offer you high-quality vascular medicine thanks to modern examination techniques:
- High-resolution vascular ultrasound (duplex sonography) for the early detection of venous and arterial diseases
- Oscillography for determining peripheral blood flow in the legs
- Unidirectional Doppler device for determining the ABI (ankle-brachial index)
- Light reflection rheography (LRR) to determine vein function before and after varicose vein surgery
- Venous occlusion plethysmography (VOP) for monitoring progression after deep vein thrombosis
- Veinlite reflected light for better visualization of veins, e.g., during sclerotherapy of spider veins and varicose veins
My private practice for vascular surgery, vascular diagnostics, and vein disorders is centrally located in the heart of Düsseldorf. The building is located directly on Königsallee.
