<strong>Schaufensterkrankheit<\/strong>. Bei ihr kommt es durch die <strong>fortschreitende Verkalkung<\/strong> von Arterien zu Engstellen (Stenosen), die f\u00fcr die Symptome urs\u00e4chlich sind. Der medizinische Fachbegriff lautet \u201eperiphere arterielle Verschlusskrankheit\u201c, kurz <strong>pAVK<\/strong>. Im Volksmund hat sich der Begriff Schaufensterkrankheit etabliert, da die Betroffenen nach einer gewissen Gehstrecke aufgrund <strong>zunehmender Schmerzen oder Kr\u00e4mpfen in den Beinen<\/strong> stehenbleiben m\u00fcssen und dabei die Schaufensterauslagen betrachten. Manche Patienten beschreiben die Beschwerden auch als <strong>\u201eGef\u00fchl, die Wade w\u00fcrde in eine Zwinge eingesperrt werden\u201c<\/strong>. Verursacht werden die Schmerzen durch einen Mangel an Sauerstoff in der beanspruchten Beinmuskulatur, da das Blut aufgrund der bestehenden Gef\u00e4\u00dfverengungen die Muskulatur nicht mehr ausreichend mit Sauerstoff versorgen kann. \u00a0Vornehmlich treten die Beschwerden in den <strong>Waden und der Oberschenkelmuskulatur<\/strong>, vereinzelt auch in der Ges\u00e4\u00dfmuskulatur auf. Bei fortschreitendem Verlauf kann es dann zu Schmerzen bereits im Ruhezustand kommen \u2013 im schlimmsten Fall droht sogar ein Verlust des Das Stadium II wird noch unterteilt in ein Stadium IIa (schmerzfreie Gehstrecke &gt; 200 Meter) und Stadium IIb (schmerzfreie Gehstrecke &lt; 200 Meter).
