Verengungen der <b>Halsschlagader<\/b> \u00fcber 70% k\u00f6nnen zu einer Bedrohung unserer Gehirndurchblutung f\u00fchren und einen <b>Schlaganfall<\/b> ausl\u00f6sen. Da eine Verengung der Halsschlagader im Vorfeld <b>keine Schmerzen<\/b> verursacht, ist eine einmalige Untersuchung ab einem gewissen Alter oder aber bei Vorliegen von Risikofaktoren f\u00fcr Herz-Kreislauf-Erkrankungen sinnvoll. Sie bringt das Blut vom Herzen in die Beine hinein und kann eine krankhafte Erweiterung \u2013 ein sogenanntes <b>Aneurysma<\/b> \u2013 aufweisen. Die meisten Aneurysmen machen t\u00fcckischerweise <b>keine Beschwerden<\/b> und sind daher eine <b>tickende Zeitbombe<\/b>. Ab einem Durchmesser von 5 cm steigt das Risiko f\u00fcr ein pl\u00f6tzliches Platzen der Bauchschlagader und f\u00fchrt damit zu einer lebensgef\u00e4hrlichen Situation. Die Ultraschall-Untersuchung ist eine einfache und nicht belastende Untersuchung, um innerhalb weniger Augenblicke den Durchmesser der Bauchschlagader zu bestimmen. Empfohlen wir diese Ultraschall-Untersuchung von den Krankenkassen routinem\u00e4\u00dfig ab einem Alter von 65 Jahren. Sinnvoll ist sie auch bei Vorliegen von Herz-Kreislauf-Erkrankungen oder famili\u00e4rer Belastung f\u00fcr ein Aneurysma der Bauchschlagader. Die Untersuchung des Bauchraums auf eine Erweiterung der Bauchschlagader (sog. Bauchaortenaneurysma) wird ab dem 65. Lebensjahr empfohlen oder aber bereits fr\u00fcher, wenn innerhalb der Verwandtschaft diese Erkrankung bereits bei anderen Familienmitgliedern aufgetreten ist. Eine Untersuchung der Halsschlagader oder der Beinschlagadern kann bei erh\u00f6hten Blutfettwerten (Cholesterin, Triglyceride, Lipoprotein (a)) sinnvoll sein oder aber bei Beschwerden in den Beinen oder in der Po-Muskulatur beim Gehen (sogenannte Schaufensterkrankheit). Bei vielen Patienten besteht eine Erh\u00f6hung eines besonderen Fettstoffwechselwertes, dem Lipoprotein (a). Die Halsschlagadern und die Bauch- und Beinschlagadern werden im Liegen untersucht. Eine Ultraschalluntersuchung der Beinvenen erfolgt sinnvollerweise im Stehen, da nur im Stehen die Venenklappen, die einen R\u00fcckfluss des Blutes mit der Schwerkraft zum Fu\u00df verhindern sollen, suffizient auf einen Klappenschaden hin beurteilt werden k\u00f6nnen. Im Liegen k\u00f6nnen die Beinvenen aufgrund des mangelnden Schwerkrafteinflusses nicht sinnvoll \u00fcberpr\u00fcft werden.
